MEGATHERIUM

Megatherium is a very old cousin to the modern day three-toed sloth; However, if you saw them side by side, you would hardly guess that they were related. Megatherium was an ENORMOUS mammal, 6 meters from head to tail. It's fossils are found in South American countries such as Argentina and Brazil, and there are even a few that came from as far north as Texas. Because of it's heavy, curved claws on its forelimbs, megatherium would walk like an anteater, on the sides of his paws.

For many years, natives in the Amazon have spoken of a large monster that roams the forest, providing researchers with tracks as evidence. Although a modern day megatherium, if in actual existence, would probably be smaller than its elephant sized ancestor, the sheer thought of a 3 meter tall sloth with gigantic claws is nothing to sneeze at. Perhaps it would be better for us if we never found him at all.
